Best European Organic Baby Formula Guide [Updated 2020]

Considering how many posts I’ve written about European organic baby formula, it’s probably long overdue for me to write a comprehensive European formula guide comparing the best brands. Well, here it is – better late than never!

There are several major European brand formulas that are sold in the US. Interestingly enough, most of them originate from Germany. I don’t know why but Germans seem to produce the gold standard for baby formula worldwide.

I am focusing solely on European formulas because the quality of the milk and the organic farming methods used in Europe are far superior to American brand formulas. Nonetheless, even the European brand formulas discussed will have their downsides. There is no such thing as the perfect infant formula. The best formula is the one that works for your baby and family.

List of Best European Formulas Discussed:

I am by no means of the imagination a chef. And there are very few things that motivate me enough to actually cook/prepare. The formula basically goes like this: Is the reward (yummy food) sufficiently greater than the cost (the ease of actually making the food)? And let me tell you, not many things meet that criteria for me. (Yes, I know I should be ashamed of myself.)

BUT, I love guacamole, and this past Thanksgiving, when I went home, I tried my brother’s rendition of guacamole and absolutely loved it. (He’s the chef in the family.) And here’s the kicker, this thing has a ton of cilantro… and I HATE cilantro. I mean, hate, hate, hate cilantro. So I figured, if I still enjoy eating this guacamole when there’s a crap load of cilantro in it, it must be pretty good? Since it’s also stupid easy to prepare, I just had to share.

Got Milk? In Search of the Best Brand of Organic Milk for Baby

Now that Max is transitioning from Holle organic infant formula to whole milk, I started looking into the best brand of organic milk to give him.

Originally, I thought that as long as I was buying him organic milk, it was pretty much all the same. (Honestly, I just really didn’t put much thought into it when I was only purchasing milk for Mr. C and myself.) At my local grocery store, they sell three big name organic milk brands that I already recognized: Horizon Organic, Stonyfield, and Organic Valley.

I also noticed that in the same section, they had a huge, thick glass milk jug with nondescript labeling. Sometimes, I can be a sucker for packaging, and let me tell you, the ridiculously heavy, old-school glass milk jug, definitely got my attention.

This post isn’t meant to be a review on the brand of milk I am now buying for Max (Trickling Springs Creamery), but rather to raise awareness in the importance of evaluating where the milk comes from and how it is processed.

The Cornucopia Institute provides an organic dairy report, ranking the dairy farms from best to worst. During my research, I learned that Horizon Organic is one of the worst organic dairy brands to buy. I had absolutely no clue.
